HADASSAH BIG & EASY
SUPER SOUTH TRI-REGION CONFERENCE
New Orleans, April 17-19, 2015

Rachel Schonberger, M.D.
National Board Member
Resource Chair, Super South Geographic Area
Dr. Rachel Schonberger, of Atlanta, Georgia, is a National Board Member and Resource Chair for the Super South Geographic area, which includes the Southern, Southern Seaboard and Southeastern regions. She has a passion for Hadassah and the extraordinary humanitarian work that Hadassah does.
Rachel is a past president of Mount Scopus Chapter, Greater Atlanta Chapter and the Southeastern Region of Hadassah.
As the third generation of a four-generation physician family, she is inspired by the healing that comes from the research of the Hadassah Medical Organization. As a mother and grandmother (known lovingly as Nanny), she relates to the nurturing provided by Youth Aliyah. As an educator, she takes great pride in Hadassah College graduates. And as an alumna of Young Judaea and Camp Tel Yehuda, she still sings camp songs with gusto.
Rachel is especially connected to Hadassah’s advocacy for Israel and for issues affecting the health of women and their families.
Among her many accomplishments in Hadassah, Rachel chaired the National Physicians Council. She led the team that developed Hadassah’s first US accredited continuing medical education seminar for physicians in Israel and has been course director for that conference four times.
Rachel credits Hadassah’s leadership training for helping her advance to a leadership position in the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine at Emory Medical School.
In addition to her work with Hadassah, Rachel has held leadership positions in many community organizations, including PTAs, neighborhood organizations, and the American Medical Women’s Association. She loves to travel and will go almost anywhere in the world to celebrate a simcha.
With her husband, Larry, Rachel joined the Society of Major Donors as supporters of Hadassah projects. She is the mother of two grown men and has three grandchildren who, thankfully, live in her time zone.
