Debra "Debbie" Jaffee Friedman

Debbie Friedman of Richmond, Virginia, is a member of the National Board of Hadassah and serves in the Development Division as Chair of Annual Giving.

 

Debbie is a past president of the Southern Seaboard Region and has served on the National Board as Chair of Home Sweet Hadassah, Chair of Jewish Education, Co-Chair of Member Cultivation, and Vice-Chair of Keepers of the Gate. Debbie also previously served on the Southeastern Area Development Fundraising Team and chaired the Fundraising Action Team.

 

During Debbie’s tenure on the National Board she became a certified Hadassah leadership trainer and has worked with presidents throughout the country to develop and deliver training to meet their needs. Debbie conceived and launched the successful Keepers Coffee Club and Membership Table Talks, bringing hundreds of volunteers together for virtual networking and learning. As Region President she initiated Date with the State – Jewish Advocacy Day in partnership with Jewish Community Federations throughout Virginia. Debbie has the distinction of being a founding member of Sabra Group, which is now part of the Richmond Chapter, and in 1998 she was selected to participate in a Young Leaders Mission to Israel that she describes as a life-changing experience. 

 

Debbie also volunteers locally for Richmond’s Weinstein JCC where she helped launch the annual Jewish Community Read which she co-chaired for four year. Debbie now serves as co-chair of the JCC’s Israeli Film Festival and a member of the JCCs Patrons of the Arts committee. She is a past chair of the Jewish Community Relations mission to Washington, DC, Super Sunday and the Young Women’s Division of the Jewish Community Federation campaign. Debbie is a member of Temple Beth-El where she sang in their choir for more than twenty five years.

 

A graduate of the University of the Virginia McIntire School of Commerce, Debbie worked for twenty five years for Bank of America as a Vice President and Project Manager, before becoming a full-time volunteer.

 

Debbie and her husband Elliott have one son, Jeremy, who resides in Fairfax, Virginia. She is proud to be a member of Hadassah for more than 30 years, a four-generation Life Member and Associate family, a member of the Circle of Founders and a Keeper of the Gate.
